cookingdeliciousfood.Atthesametime,theyarevaluable
herbswithanimportantroleinthepreventionandtreatment
ofdiseases,usedforthousandsofyears.
AsearlyastheEasternHanDynasty(A.D.25-220),thegreen
onionhadbeenusedbyphysiciansasacommonherbtotreat
manyconditions.AsmentionedintheShenNong'sMateria
Medica,theearliestextantmedicaltreatise,whitestalkofgreen
onionisindicatedforfebrileinfectiousdiseasewithchills,
fever,sweating,andedemaofthefaceandeyes.Theadoption
ofthisherbformedicalusebeganinveryancienttimebecause
itwasaplanteasytogrowandwidelydistributedinChina.As
aherb,ithasbeenmentionedinmanymedicalandherbalbooks
sinceShenNong'sMateriaMedicawaswritten.IntheInformal
RecordsofFamousPhysicianswrittencenturiesago,wereadthat
itcanbeusedtotreatheadachesduetofebrileinfectious
diseases.DuringtheMingDynasty(1368-1644),LiShizhen,the
greatmedicalscholar,widelyexpandedtheclinicalapplication
ofgreenonionbyincorporatingtheexperiencesofmedical
specialistsinpreviousdynastiesandaccumulatinghisown
knowledgeafterclinicalpracticeandobservation.IntheYuan
andMingdynasties(1271-1644),thewhitestalkofgreenonion
wasusedformanymedical,surgical,gynecologicalandpediat-

ricdiseases.BytheQingDynasty(1644-1911),thefunctionsof
differentpartsofthegreenonionhadbeenclearlydistin-
guished.AsstatedintheNewCompilationofMateriaMedica
writtenbyWuYiluo,thegreenonionisusedtopromote
sweatingandthecirculationofqi(vitalenergy).Itisalsoused
toremovestagnationinbloodvesselsandrestoreyang,especial-
lyinpatientswithaflushedface,vomiting,andretentionof
urineandstool.Healsopointedoutthedifferencesbetweenthe
whitestalkandgreenleaf:'Thewhitestalkhasapungentodor
andawarmnature;thegreenleafalsohasapungenttaste,but
acoldnature."Thereforetheyareusedtotreatdifferent
diseases.Aftertheextensiveapplicationofgreenonionin
clinicalpracticeoveralongperiodoftime,physiciansfoundit
tobeincompatiblewithhoneyinthesameprescription,buta
mixtureofthesetwoherbsisaneffectivepreparationfor
infectionofthegums.

Foreword
TheChinesepeoplehavebeenusinggreenonions,ginger,
andgarlicasvegetablesandflavoringforcenturiesbecausethey
areindispensableincookingdeliciousfood.Theyarealsothe
well-knownandvaluableherbsusedformedicinalpurposes.
Thegreenonioncanbeusedtotreatrheumaticpainand
numbness,abdominalpain,bloodintheurineofpregnant
womenandbreastabscesses,andcanalsoincreaselactation.
Thevolatilealliciningarlic,asaplantbactericide,canproduce
astrongbactericidaleffecttoinhibitthegrowthofdysenteric
bacillusandfungusoftheskinandcanalsopromotethe
excretionofsweatandurine,controlhighfeverandenhance
spleenfunctions.Thevolatilecomponentingarliccanalso
resolvephlegmandthesulfurcompoundinallicincanprevent
andtreathyperlipemia,improvethebodies'immunesystem,
andpreventcancer.Thevolatileoilingingercanpromoteblood
circulationandsweating,andthegingerolingingercanstimu-
latethesecretionofgastricjuices,promoteintestinalmotility,
andimprovedigestion.Thefiltrateinfreshgingercanprohibit
thegrowthofstaphylococcus,vaginaltrichomonad,andskin
fungus.

作者简介

王富春,男,1961年生,现任长春中医药大学针灸推拿学院院长、教授、博士研究生导师。中国针灸学会理事、吉林省针灸学会常务副会长,吉林省重点学科带头人,吉林省有突出贡献专家,全国优秀教师、《针刺研究》杂志编委、《中华推拿疗法杂志》专家编委、《中国中医骨伤科杂志》专家编委、《亚太传统医药》杂志专家编委、美国《TCM》杂志编委。曾主编学术专著60余部,代表作有“中国新针灸大系丛书”、“现代中医临床**丛书”、《腧穴类编》、《针方类辑》、《临床针方》、《刮痧疗法》、《中国手针疗法》等,发表学术论文百余篇。完成科研成果10余项,有6项成果获得国家和吉林省科技进步奖。 王富春教授在全国首先提出了“合募配穴治疗六腑疾病”、“俞原配穴治疗五脏病”、“郄会配穴治疗急症”等新的特定穴配穴理论,并且取得了良好的临床疗效。在颈椎病、腰椎间盘突出症、肩关节周围炎等临床常见病、多发病的治疗过程中,他强调治疗方案的规范和尽量缩短治疗周期,尽可能地减少病人的痛苦。对于顽固性呃逆、股骨头无菌性坏死、胸椎间盘突出症、性功能障碍等疑难杂症,在治疗手法和取穴方面均有独特创新,如治疗胸椎间盘突出症的“胸椎侧搬法"和在治疗性功能障碍过程中发现的经外新穴“振阳穴"等,均取得了满意的临床疗效。
