作者简介

　　爱默生·Ｅ?怀特（1829－1902）美国普渡大学第四任校长（1876－1883），任职期间，他致力于将这所大学办成一所专业的职业学校，注重科学、技术与农业等领域的培养，使学生不仅能成为优秀的产业工人，还能成为优秀的社会公民与家庭成员。他同时完成了大量关于教育管理与教学的著作，并为当时的美国学校编写了一套数学教材。
