《TOEFL和SAT书——夯实基础篇》本书重点解决的是考生在考试中会遇到的单词问题,帮助考生提高阅读效率,迅速提分。
因为托福只是一项基本英语能力考试,而 SAT 则是美国高考,所以在选词时,作者选了一些比较难的学者用词。本书里的词语都是环环相扣的,仔细看能看出其内在的关联。
市面上大多数的单词书中例句后面往往跟着中文翻译,这个翻译的存在恰恰让读者产生了一种依赖,而只去记忆关键词,对例句中的其他词语或内在精华不去思考、不去理解,在脑海中还是通过中文去背诵英文,同样的时间内只做了记住关键词这一件事。同时,夹带中文翻译的书浪费了很多的篇幅。本书则不同,例句中不带中文翻译,逼迫学生通过上下文、同义词及衍生词去思考理解,这样做的好处有两个:一是从思考模式中去适应英文语法逻辑,真正习惯用英文思考英文,让考生从内在建立学习外语的环境;二是通过思考,加深印象和理解,同样的时间内既记住了关键词,又联想记忆了衍生词。
