本书共分17个单元，**单元简要介绍外贸信函的基本要素、格式和写作技巧。第二至第十七单元讲授外贸进出口流程的主要环节：建立业务关系、资信查询、询盘与回复、促销、发盘与还盘、订购与确认订购、支付、包装、装运、保险、索赔、理赔及代理。每个单元由业务背景知识、写作技巧、实训指南、信函实例、课后习题五部分组成。业务背景知识部分介绍该类别信函的相关的业务背景知识，旨在使学生了解专业术语，运用相关知识得体地处理往来信函。信函实例部分提供四至六个典型范例，以往来信函贯穿各个业务环节，每例各有侧重，解决语言和业务知识上的难点。写作技巧部分涉猎范围很广，旨在使学生了解各类商务信函的写作模式。实训指南部分为该类信函的写作提供了丰富的且常用的术语及表达方式，供学生结合实际通过实践提高信函写作与业务操作技能。习题以情景写作、信函翻译等练习内容为主，巩固课堂所学知识。此外，为进一步加强学习者的专业语言基础，培养并提高学习者实际使用专业英语进行交，际的能力。书后还附有大量可操练的习题。
