本书展示了一个边缘云开发路线图,一群工程师在一年的时间里遵循该路线图,开发、部署,然后全天候运营一个跨越十几家企业的边缘云,并提供了很好的云原生服务(在我们的例子中是通过5G连接提供云服务)。该团队利用20多个开源软件和组件实现了这个边缘云和服务,但选择这些开源组件只是一个开始。在这个过程中,有几十个技术决策需要做出,还有几千行配置代码需要编写。这是一个可重复的实践,作者在本书中对此实现方案进行了详细阐述。书中的配置文件和源代码都是开源的,适用于那些想更详细地研究并实现边缘云计算和服务的读者。

作者简介
扎克·威廉姆斯(Zack Williams)
英特尔的云软件工程师,在英特尔收购ONF工程团队后加入英特尔。在为ONF工作期间,他参与了Aether项目,并领导了基础设施团队。在加入ONF之前,他是亚利桑那大学的系统程序员。他于2001年获得亚利桑那大学计算机科学学士学位。
布鲁斯·戴维(Bruce Davie)
网络领域知名计算机科学家、VMware亚太区前副总裁兼首席技术官。他在VMware收购SDN(软件定义网络)初创公司Nicira后加入VMware。在此之前,他是Cisco Systems的研究员,领导一个架构师团队,负责多协议标签交换(MPLS)。他在网络行业拥有超过30年的经验,并合著了17份RFC。他于2009年成为ACM会士,并于2009年至2013年担任ACM SIGCOMM的主席。他还在麻省理工学院做了五年访问讲师,是多本书的作者,拥有40多项美国专利。
