本书特色

pride and prejudice, first published on 28 january1813, is the most famous of jane austen's novels andone of the first "romantic comedies" in the history ofthe novel.the book is jane austen's second publishednovel. its manuscript was initially written between1796 and 1797 in steventon, hampshire, whereausten lived in the rectory. called first impressions,it was never published under that title, and followingrevisions it was retitled pride and prejudice.

内容简介

although the novel is written in the third person。 austen onlydepicts scenes in which elizabeth is present——and this is true of noother character. the content of the novel is the story of elizabeth, ofhow she and darcy arrive at nuptial happiness by an improbableand circuitous route. the story austen has written is that of darcy'swooing and winning of elizabeth.
darcy's capture of elizabeth represents the triumph of reason overperversity. but darcy does not win elizabeth merely by persistence, though this helps greatly. to win the love of such a woman is noteasy but darcy believes it to be well worthwhile—— she will love him,if ever she does, for himself, as she is not desperate to achieve greatwealth or social status through marriage.
