本书基于文化适应理论,分析了影响中国大学生对目标外语(英语)文化适应程度的主要因素,探讨了这一群体对目标语的文化适应状况在英语学习中发挥的促进作用。美国学者舒曼(Schumann)将二语习得领域内的文化适应定义为“第二语言习得者与目标语团体在社会与心理方面的融合”,主张把社会距离与心理距离作为衡量文化适应程度的主要参数。他提出的“文化适应模式”(AcculturationModel)认为,“语言学习者对目标语的文化适应程度决定了其习得水平与能力”。
